Stefan Wimmer embodies the passion for the art of tailoring. As a master tailor in the 9th generation, owner of one of the last successful bespoke tailoring businesses (with over 250 years of family history), and an award-winning trainer for master tailors, he shares his extensive knowledge and hands-on experience through the Tailor Academy, along with his infectious enthusiasm for this creative craft.
The Tailor Academy was founded in 2020 with the “Masterclass – Learn to Sew from Scratch,” driven by the concern that the craft could become extinct within a few generations due to the closure of the last training workshops.
Stefan Wimmer’s goal with the Tailor Academy is to make this professional know-how accessible to everyone. His passion and practice-oriented teaching have now inspired thousands of participants in three languages and over 20 countries.

In his internationally renowned and award-winning bespoke tailoring shop “Wimmer Schneidert” in Salzburg, Stefan Wimmer has trained dozens of apprentices over the decades, turning them into journeymen and master tailors who regularly win awards for their skills.

Stefan Wimmer himself is a trained ladies’ and men’s tailor. He learned the craft from his father and grandfather and refined his skills through further training in tailoring, as well as in rhetoric, management, and pedagogy.
Stefan Wimmer has personally conducted over 30,000 fittings and cuttings for customers, trained dozens of apprentices on-site, and supervises the exams for aspiring master tailors. His decades-long hands-on approach in the family business have made him an expert in tailoring, capable of imparting this knowledge like no other.

The Tailor Academy was founded as a project together with three of Stefan’s five children, with strong support from the family. Stefan Wimmer has five children in total. Monika, his eldest, has since taken over the tailoring shop “Wimmer Schneidert.” The youngest, Vinzenz, continues his education as a fashion designer in his mobile studio.
